About Bass
The bass is the anchor of almost every band, and choosing one is mostly about comfort and the sound you want. A four-string bass is the traditional starting point and suits most styles, while a five-string adds a low B string for extra range. Scale length matters too: long-scale basses are the standard, while medium and short-scale models are easier to reach around and suit smaller hands and players coming from guitar. Common questions
Should a beginner choose a four or five-string bass?

What is scale length and why does it matter?
