Description

This integrated course and workbook takes students on an in-depth journey through the Grade 6 Theory of Music content, helping them enhance their technical understanding, creativity, and general knowledge.

With brand new content covering all aspects of the updated Theory of Music Grade 6 syllabus, this publication is an invaluable resource for students and music teachers alike.

This integrated course and workbook guides students to gain knowledge and confidence via the following lessons:
• Lessons 1 to 6 focus on the new harmony for the grade, including chord III, the dominant 7th chord, second inversion triads, suspensions, accented passing and auxiliary notes, and modulation.
• Lessons 7 and 8 explore two-part writing: establishing a harmonic basis, the use of motives, and imitation.
• Lessons 9 covers the use of harmonic scaffolds, motives, and word painting in the writing of melodies.
• Lessons 10 to 15 focus on general knowledge, covering sonata form and large-scale musical forms that employ it @ndash; the sonata, symphony, concerto and overture; and an introduction to the brass instruments of the symphony orchestra.
• Lesson 16 addresses how students can prepare for the set works exam component, with musical examples that model the Grade 6 set works.

This is the final integrated course and workbook in AMEB's Theory of Music series, ideal for advanced students. It is the natural progression for students who have completed their AMEB Theory of Music Grade 5 exam.

Students who build competency at the Grade 6 Theory of Music gain a greater understanding and in-depth appreciation of their repertoire. This enables them to bring a heightened musicality and confidence to their performances.
