Carl Philipp Emanuel's organ sonatas are still in the shadow of "overbearing" father. So wrote about Forkel quasi apologetically: "This organ solos are made for a princess who could not play pedal and no trouble, though they could be making a beautiful organ with two Clavieren and pedal and enjoyed playing it." Because the princess ., meaning Anna Amalia v Prussia, but let build not just a manualiter-positive, but a large organ with pedal, you will need to consider Forkel frequently cited anecdotal note with a certain skepticism: it is perhaps the attempt of artistic entirely on JS Bach Forkel fixed, to find an excuse for certain perceived by him as a lack of Pedallosigkeit sonatas C. Ph. E. Bach? The actual cause of the abandonment of the pedal is likely to be well founded in the change of style for the Early Classic. The musical qualities are there, which is why the organ sonatas of the famous Bach-son still played a lot and love today. The 6 authentic organ sonatas are presented in a critical edition, which takes into account the whole variety of sources available for the first time.
