Mal klassisch mal modern!Als "Nachzugler" in der Familie der Holzblasinstrumente inspirierte das Saxophon im 20. Jahrhundert zahlreiche Komponisten Werke fur seine charakteristischen Klangmoglichkeiten zu schreiben. Vergessen wird dabei jedoch dass diese Klangmoglichkeiten durchaus auch in der ernsten Musik vor 1900 ihre Wirkung entfalten. Eine besonders reizvolle Auswahl aus diesem Repertoire hat der beruhmte britische Saxophonist und Komponist John Harle in seinem Classical Album zusammengestellt. John Harle ist aber auch mit dem zeitgenossischen Repertoire fur das Saxophon eng verbunden. So widmeten ihm bspw. Luciano Berio und Richard Rodney Bennett ihre Werke. Berios Sequenza IXb wurde vom Widmungstrager 1981 auch uraufgefuhrt. Ein neues Klangerlebnis von Barock bis Neuzeit!
