Chanson and Noctourne by Richard Meyer is a charming selection that's perfect for contest or festival. A light hearted and graceful Chanson has been paired with an emotional, slow, brooding Nocturne in minor mode, giving your students a chance to show off two very different playing styles. Throughout the piece, the melody is passed from section to section providing wonderful teaching opportunities in proper ensemble balance. The overall texture is light and airy and requires a mature approach that is sure to help develop your students' sensitivity and musicianship. (5:00)
