CHON is a band that has quickly grown from playing local shows in their hometown of San Diego, to earning a spot on the Billboard top 200 and playing on tours with contemporary giants such as Animals as Leaders and Circa Survive. The easiest way to categorize CHON would be ”instrumental rock,“ but that categorization would not do the band justice. With their debut full-length album ‘Grow’, CHON incorporated many genres including prog, rock, and jazz. The album exhibited lightning quick guitar playing, staccato drumming, and flowing melodies, inventing a sound that's fresh, exciting and wholly their own. CHON is a band that has truly changed the game when it comes to instrumental guitar-driven music, and they’ve only just begun. Erick Hansel, one half of the dynamic guitar duo of CHON, has been an Ibanez Artist for many years and has now worked closely with Ibanez to develop his signature model, the EHM. The guitar is heavily inspired by Ibanez AZ models, and it also features Erick’s personal touches in order to make it perfectly designed for his inventive playing style.

Jatoba fretboard
Jatoba has a reddish brown color and produces a rich mid range with a crisp high end.

Stainless steel frets boast excellent corrosion resistance. The wide and tall fret-type offers a quick response and effortless articulation when playing chords and clear tone when playing single notes.

Walnut top / Nyatoh body
The Walut top features a natural, beautiful wood grain. Nyatoh used as body wood provides a rich mid-low end.

Seymour Duncan® Alnico II Pro™ / Hyperion™ pickups
The combination of a Seymour Duncan® Alnico II Pro™ neck pickup and a Hyperion™ bridge pickup provide a vintage sound and vibe along with a clear picking attack.

Gotoh® MG-T locking machine heads
The Gotoh® MG-T locking machine heads achieve incredible tuning stability, cutting down string-changing time.

Gotoh® T1502 tremolo
The T1502 tremolo bridge features steel saddles and a die-cast zinc tremolo block for a quick response and improved articulation. The 10.5mm string spacing allows for easy picking across strings and its snap-in construction makes it easy to load a tremolo arm.

Coil-tap switch
The coil tap switch adds sound and tonal variations for both pickups.
