Dr. Stewart Gordon, Professor Emeritus of Keyboard Studies at the University of Southern California, is held in high regard by professional piano teachers worldwide. His two-volume critical editions of Mozart's piano sonatas provide all the tools necessary for a stylistic performance. His thorough research of the earliest available sources, as well as careful study of all modern editions, has captured the most accurate reflection of the composer's intent. These newly engraved editions contain helpful fingering suggestions and performance recommendations, including possible realizations for all ornamentation. Also included is a critical discussion of Mozart's relationship with the piano, as well as considerations for tempos and for period-appropriate ornamentation and improvisation. Students, teachers, scholars, and professional pianists will also find a useful listing of recordings of the complete Mozart piano sonatas, an extensive bibliography, a reference chart of autographs and early editions, and detailed analysis of the form of each sonata movement. The editions are essential for the library of every pianist. The sonatas in each volume are organized by K chel (K.) number. Volume II contains nine sonatas, K. 330–333, 457, 533, 545, 570, and 576, as well as the often-paired companion work to K. 457, the "Fantasia in C Minor," K. 475. 224 pages. Comb-bound.
