This effect is created by a sliding cup at the end of the mute, allowing the player to manipulate the sound by varying the opening. The mute itself is typically made of aluminum and is designed not to alter the pitch of the trombone. How it Works: Functionality: The wow-wow mute is inserted into the bell of the trombone.
