Super Bronze Pioneered by Rotosound in 1974, Super Bronze remains the choice for long sustain and brightness. Applying our patented Piano String Design technology to 92/8 phosphor bronze windings offers unrivalled sustain and presence. Core principals James How, Rotosound’s founder, revolutionised the acoustic guitar string with his world acclaimed piano string contact core design. Originally released under the Superwound name ‘Country Gold’, these strings employ a wrap wire that stops short of the ball end so that a section of the core wire is exposed and only the core wire comes into contact with the saddle. Piano string design Inspired by the construction of piano strings, Rotosound’s James How designed and patented the ‘Superwound’ string in 1974. Described on their launch as having “unequalled hi-fidelity range, selective harmonic control, longer sustain and extreme power”, this design is a classic example of Rotosound’s innovation. British quality Manufactured in the UK to precise tolerances and using only the finest materials, you can rely on Rotosound acoustic strings for consistent tone and performance in every packet. Iconic music strings Developed in conjunction with some of the world's top artists, Rotosound strings are synonymous with timeless tone, longevity and rock history. Started in 1958 by James How, an engineer who made strings for his own instruments, Rotosound became known around the world for its superior quality products and famous endorsees such as Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and Queen to name just a few. The Who’s John Entwistle started a long partnership with James and helped develop the Swing Bass roundwound strings which have become the industry standard. Gathering the most prominent artists over the following decades from Jaco Pastorius to The Edge, Oasis to Guthrie Govan, Rotosound has been the go-to string for every music generation.
