The Sceptre DeSoto Custom bass guitar features a North American Alder body with an American white ash overlay, finished in See Thru Red. It has a Roasted Hard Rock Maple neck and a Roasted Maple fingerboard with a scale length of 34"/86.36 cm and a radius of 400mm/16". The instrument is equipped with two Levinson JB pickups that are reverse wound/reverse coiled for noiseless operation, utilizing ALNICO 5 magnets.

The active electronics include a master volume, pan/balance, treble boost/cut at 7 kHz, and bass boost/cut at 40 Hz with up to 13dB of gain. The bridge, Sceptre Vintage Style 401, has tracks for individual saddles and a 19mm pitch.
