Description

SKU TP400DEV

The recently completed series of symphonies in the New Schubert Edition is a milestone of modern scholarly-critical editing, lending these works a transparency lacking in earlier editions of a more romantic bent. The eight symphonies, trace Schubert’s artistic evolution from the First Symphony, which develops a theme from Beethoven’s Eroica , to the Mozartean Fifth and the romanticism of the »Great« Eighth. Enclosed in a slipcase, this publication now gives conductors, students and all admirers of symphonic music an opportunity to purchase one of romantic music’s towering achievements at an affordable price. [Study Scores separately: TP 401-TP 408] »The edition of Schubert’s symphonies is now complete, and it is yet another sterling achievement on the part of Bärenreiter and the editors involved. I shall always use this edition when performing these famous symphonies .« (Sir Roger Norrington )
