From the famous "Liederjahr" in 1840, in which Schumann composed over one hundred songs, came the "Myrthen" op. 25, which he dedicated to "his dear bride" Clara Wieck-Schumann. In addition to well-known songs such as "dedication", "lotus flower" or "Nussbaum" on texts of German poets are also trips to more foreign realms such as the Scottish Highlands of Robert Burns or "Venetian songs" by Thomas Moore.
