Description

"Memory of a dear place" is the translation of the title of this collection of three enchanting pieces for violin and piano. This refers to the manor Brailov, on which Tchaikovsky spent May 1878 with his patron and friend Nadezhda von Meck in idyllic seclusion and completed his composition. Created in direct proximity to his Violin Concerto, these pieces also show Tchaikovsky as an inimitable romantic melodicist. For editorial quality, the Russian Tchaikovsky specialist Alexander Komarov vouches for the highest editorial quality; he consulted all relevant sources in Russian and international archives for the edition; He was also able to refute the previously held opinion that the title Souvenir d'un lieu cher was only completed after Tchaikovsky's death, clearly refute.
