Description

John Stanley was a contemporary and friend of Handel. He was completely blind from the age of two, but in spite of this, he was greatly admired both as a composer and as a performer. Handel himself was often to be seen, with other famous musicians of the day, listening to Stanley's performances on the organ of the Temple Church, London where he was organist for more than fifty years.
